USES: Metronidazole is an antibiotic that is used to treat a wide variety of infections. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria and parasites.It may also be used with other medications to treat certain stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by a bacteria (H. pylori).
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor. To prevent stomach upset, take this medication with food or a full glass of water or milk. Dosage is based on your medical condition, laboratory test results, and response to treatment,for adults and teenagers—500 or 750 milligrams (mg) three times a day for 5 to 10 days.
SIDE EFFECTS: hives difficult breathing swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
OVERDOSE: If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. US residents can call their local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
